I was fed up with my old (and a few years old) temporary website “datenschutzkontor” done with that dorky Dreamweaver years ago.

It was time for something new. Problem was that I did not have much time to spent on a new site. And I wanted my website to be in english (primarily). Why?
I do work in the field of data protection law and it-security law under a “label” named “datenschutzkontor” since 2003. Background of using a label is that I experienced in my first month as an attorney at law that many potential clients in the privacy sector are “afraid” of attorneys. Potential clients tend to be scared about high fees and “Über”-formality that attorneys seem to be common for. As most of my loyal readers know, I am not that type of guy
So in 2003 I started to work with a “label” that I called “datenschutzkontor” which can be translated as “privacy office” or “data protection office” and sold my services as a lawyer in the field of data protection law and my work as an data protection expert for privacy seals under the label “datenschutzkontor”. In retrospect this was a good decision as clients could much more warm themselves up doing work with “datenschutzkontor” as doing work with an “attorney”.
In the last years I have worked in numerous small, mid-size and large projects with a focus on Data Protection/Privacy and IT-Security. And I did a whole lot of expert opinions for Privacy Seals and am still working on much more right at the time. In the last 1-2 years more and more international requests have hit me. Either international corporations or their law firms that wanted me to do work for them or German clients that want request for english documents (work results). I have been asked several times in the last 2 years why I don’t serve international visitors of my website with english informations. Yeah….now they get it. My feeling is that the demand for solving Data Protection issues for European (and international) corporations is rising high. This is the reason why I found that I had to relaunch my datenschutzkontor website primarily in english. Potential German clients I am interested in, won’t have problems to understand the informations. I rarely work for small brick+mortar companies that live in their own small (german) market.

I don’t know how you use the web nowadays. I rarely look at large corporate sites with loads of information about what they do etc. I look at profiles from company owners and employees and I’m looking at “Content” in form of Case Scenarios, Videos, Blogpost etc. So I thought – with the little time I wanted to spend – I just make a small website with information about me and what I do and some legal stuff. No more or less. And this is what it looks like:
There may still be bugs and mistakes in the text, but who cares. I’ll fix them, when I have time again. For now, my investment of good 4-5 hours yesterday evening seems okay for the result. At least that’s what I think. Maybe I’ll pimp the site with some case scenario and some video about me and what I do in the future. Who knows. Time will tell…for now I’m happy that I don’t have to look at the old website anymore.
The website looks – of course – best on Macs. If you are on windows and have the font “Calibri” installed, it may look okay too….it looks definitely the best on Macs with “Helvetica Neue”, but that’s another story.
And to my dear German clients – yes, I will do a German version – someday. I just felt that I have to fulfil the growing demand from international customers and their requests. Excuse me
